Infinity ward started the Call of Duty series as a part of the historical warfare raged around the world from World War I to World War II. After a couple of games in that league they came up with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which was totally different from the historic theme and was focussed on nuclear weapons and advanced warfare techniques and weapons.
Modern Warfare 2 the sequel to COD 4 is by far the most different one in the series and is definitely a step up from the previous version. COD 6 as some of us call it is broken down into 3 packages: the single player campaign, the new Spec Ops mode and the groundbreaking Modern Warfare multiplayer.
The single player campaign however short is intense and better than the previous campaigns in terms of story line, graphics, sound effects and gameplay. From the beginning itself you will get a sense of how much improved the game is when you are rock climbing in the ice capped mountains of Russia, standing in the middle of a dusty road in Afghanistan or trying to figure out where the bullet is coming from in the streets of Rio De Janeiro. The improved gaming engine puts more emphasis on the complex terrain of the mountains and the weather effects even the team chat is very realistic. The reddening of the screen in the previous versions for the health of the person is replaced by a thick layer of blood which adds more realism to the game.
COD 6 has an array of improved equipments and tasks as compared to COD 4 like a heartbeat sensor on the gun, EMP (electromagnetic pulse) explosion, riding a snowmobile, riding a boat etc. One thing that has been added is UNSUITABLE missions. It will be asked in the beginning whether you want to do those missions or not.
Amidst all this the campaign story took a hit as three different stories were running parallel with no historic anchor. There are a lot of missions covering each of the scenarios but one has to keep a tab of what is going on.
For a majority of experiences COD 6 is to be enjoyed with friends or random opponents online. The debut Spec Ops mode is basically a series of missions focussed on two player teams. The mode is broken into 5 tiers with 3 difficulty levels and 23 missions each. Spec Ops mode is going to be a complete surprise package for most of the players ad it is longer than the single player campaign and the players will go back to do the missions again and again.
Finally there is the multiplayer package which is as astounding as the single player campaign. The multiplayer game mode is brilliant every time you start the game almost each and every item is physics enabled and there is a lot of smoke (worried about the smoke you even get thermal imaging weapons).
Infinity ward has done its best to see that the game released in all the three version i.e. PC, XBOX and PS are of almost the same quality level.
My overall take is COD6 is one of the best games infinity ward has come up with and if you are a COD fan do buy it, it is totally worth it.
