One of the today’s top news was:
Google announced that they might stop operations in China, due to excessive censorship being imposed by Chinese government.
When I heard that news, I was really curious to know that how much of penetration google actually had in Chinese nation, and I was shocked to know that google scored only 17%.
I immediately got even more curious to know, what service are chinese relying on for their internet search needs?
Turns out that baidu is an undisputed leader.
Baidu provides most of the services, similar to google search, except for the fact that baidu has a designated search for MP3s as well.
I went ahead and checked out Baidu maps. As expected they cover only chinese region. But.. wait a minute… what do I see? On Baidu maps, chinese people are seeing a major part of J&K as chinese territory :
Check it out for yourself on map.baidu.com
The big question is: Is indian government sleeping? Have indian authorities ever looked into what these chinese websites are putting up?
