P.S: The game is not for the faint hearted.
Guns, zombies, viruses, benchmarks, hummers, boats, motorcycles…the game has it all. Resident Evil 5 is the new sequel to the famous Resident Evil series from Capcom Co. Ltd. This Osaka, Japan based leading publisher of video games has outdone itself while developing this game. A game which never ceases to amaze you, surprise you, a game which shocks you after every turn: that is what I would say about RE5.
The game starts from a small fictional town in Africa named Kijuju. Its citizens are undergoing a dreadful change; a virus which has spread throughout the town transforming them from human beings to blood thirsty monsters. The resulting experience of a good gameplay, great graphics and sound effects, interactive cut scenes pumps adrenaline in you again and again.
Your partner Sheva Alomar is an African national with an expertise in Bioweapons. She will assist you when needed. She will help you kill; access difficult places etc. although she is a bit free with trigger and do not believe in conserving ammo. She is the best medic one can ever get. Her AI is very well developed. But, take care of her because if she dies; you die.
Various kind of treasures are spread across the game which can be traded off for gold and the gold can be used to buy weapons and also upgrade them (Capcom has brought back the concept of upgradable weapons). The list of weapons and accessories is a long one (don’t want to spoil the surprises). Although they have still kept the NO moving WHILE operating the gun concept which can become irritating in some parts of the game.
The main characters of the game include the protagonist Chris Redfield, his partner Sheva Alomar, a researcher named Irwing and some surprises.
Capcom has actually tweaked up the various adversaries like the majinies, dogs, executioners etc. some of them are more ferocious then the ones in previous versions.
Lastly I would say a great game to play although some pointers on which Capcom should put some more thought:
- Movement while using gun
- Mouse movement can be more refined
Overall, a great game to buy and play. I would like to give the following DroolRatings:
| Characteristic | Drools (out of 10) |
| Storyline | 8.5 |
| Graphics | 9.5 |
| Characters | 8.75 |
| Overall | 8.75 |
