Just about everyone would agree on this. Year 2010 will be the one for Clouds.
Cloud computing is much more than being a typical Geek Term.
It means that much of what we do will move from desktops & company servers to services & applications on the Web in a free form, seamless model, accessible from anywhere & from anything connected to the Internet.
This also means that I can empty my personal USB drive’s data into a centralized server & access that server when ever I need that data.
Simple! Clouds which many of you might already have explored include Google Gmail, Google Calendars, Flickr, etc.
There are many Free Cloud application & servers but most clouds are based on pay-as-you-go solutions for enterprises which helps businesses focus on their core operations and leave rest to clouds.
One of the Reason why cloud computing makes a lot of sense is that affordability & cost reduction is a very real possibility – although that is by no means the only benefit for a company that adopts the cloud. The client enterprises pays as per use & reduces its investment in hardware & data storage, infrastructure, maintenance & other resources.
Cloud Computing broadly can be distributed into two categories :
1. SaaS – Software as a Service – A useful Application is delivered to users through a browsers.
Examples: Google Email, Calendar, Docs – Microsoft Live Mesh, etc.

2. PaaS – Platform as a Service – Utility computing with which a company can access virtual servers, Web Services & Platforms for developers to build their own Application.
Examples: Google AppEngine, AppNexus, Amazon Web Services, Go Grid & many more.
